Hi! I’m Brittany. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m an American expat living in Jordan with my Dutch husband and a large collection of house plants. I love exploring new places, working out, and being a nerd (seriously – I love managing knowledge systems so much that I got certified in it).
I’m a knowledge management expert and work in international development. After moving to Jordan in January 2020, I decided to pursue blogging as a hobby to avoid becoming a workaholic thanks to the global pandemic.
But when I sat down to imagine what my blog would look like, it hit me: how could I launch a personal blog when I didn’t even like them?
My take on personal lifestyle blogs
I need content that I can relate to. Anything too glossy, posed, or grandiose (I’m looking at you, food bloggers who start recipes with a 12-page story about their grandmother) doesn’t inspire me.
I decided that if I was going to do this personal blog thing, I needed to throw away the script and put out the kind of content that I wanted to see more of. Content that was way more real and way less filtered.
And that’s how The Britt Blog was born.
Why you’ll love The Britt Blog
If you’re done with “perfect” content, this is your blog. Three years ago, I was formally diagnosed with ADHD and went through eating disorder recovery after years of denial. By unpacking and sharing my experiences with a bit of humor, I hope I can help you feel a little less alone with whatever you may be going through.
While writing on The Britt Blog took a back seat for a while after starting a new job in 2023, I’m ready to get back into regular sharing.
Five facts about me
- I’m the oldest of 5 children (everything makes more sense now, right?)
- Blue is my favorite color
- I have 8 tattoos
- I’ve travelled to 22 countries
- If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life, it’s a tie between tacos and lasagna
